Tallow and Goat Milk Skincare FAQS
What is tallow?
Tallow is a traditional skincare ingredient made from rendered animal fat. We use organic, grass-fed suet tallow, which comes from around the kidneys and is considered the highest-quality form. Tallow has been used in soap and skincare for generations because it closely mimics the skin’s natural oils.
Why use tallow in skincare?
Tallow is rich in naturally occurring vitamins A, D, E, and K, along with fatty acids that support the skin barrier. Because its structure is similar to our own skin oils, it absorbs well and provides deep nourishment without clogging pores or feeling greasy.
Will tallow feel greasy on my skin?
No when properly rendered and whipped, tallow absorbs beautifully. Our whipped tallow balm melts into the skin and leaves it soft and moisturized, not oily. A small amount goes a long way.
Does tallow smell like meat?
Not at all. Properly rendered suet tallow has a very mild, neutral scent. In scented varieties, you’ll only notice the essential oils. Unscented versions have a clean, natural aroma.
What is goat milk and why is it used in soap?
Goat milk is a traditional soapmaking ingredient valued for its gentle, moisturizing properties. It contains natural fats, vitamins, and minerals that help create a creamy lather while supporting soft, comfortable skin.
Is goat milk good for sensitive skin?
Yes. Goat milk is often well tolerated by those with sensitive or dry skin. Its naturally occurring lactic acid provides gentle exfoliation, while its moisturizing fats help soothe and condition.
Does goat milk soap smell like milk?
No. Goat milk soap does not smell like milk once cured. Any scent you notice comes from essential oils or natural ingredients added to the soap.
Are your products safe for children?
Many of our products, especially our kid soaps and unscented options, are designed to be gentle enough for children. We recommend patch testing and choosing mild scents for young or sensitive skin.
Do you use synthetic fragrances or dyes?
No. We use essential oils for scent and natural clays, botanicals, or powders for color. We do not use synthetic fragrances or artificial dyes.
Are your products vegan?
No. Our products contain animal-based ingredients such as tallow and goat milk. We choose these ingredients intentionally for their skin benefits and traditional use.
Are your products cruelty-free?
Yes. Our products are never tested on animals. The tallow and goat milk we use are responsibly sourced as byproducts of farming practices that respect the animals.
Do your products contain preservatives?
Our soaps and tallow balms do not require preservatives due to their formulation. We avoid unnecessary additives and focus on simple, stable ingredients.
How should I store my soap or whipped tallow?
Soap: Keep dry between uses to extend its life.
Whipped tallow: Store in a cool, dry place. In warm weather, it may soften slightly; in cooler weather, it may firm up.
Do you offer unscented options?
Yes. We offer unscented soaps and tallow for those with sensitive skin or scent preferences.
Why choose traditional skincare?
Traditional ingredients like tallow and goat milk have stood the test of time because they work. We believe in simple formulas made with purpose; skincare that supports the skin rather than overwhelms it.
No parabens. No sulfates. No nonsense. Just farm-fresh goodness for your skin.
